Serenity Hills Life Center offers a well-rounded residential treatment program for women in our Orchard House, designed to meet their unique needs, from early recovery to effective planning.

Using comprehensive treatment through the integration of clinical, medical, psychological and holistic practices.

Each phase of the continuum of care teaches women to reflect on their decisions, change destructive patterns, learn new skills, find serenity, become loving & responsible parents, begin to love themselves again, and learn to live & enjoy life sober.

Some individuals need extended residential treatment.

Because Serenity Hills Life Center is person-centered, individuals who need longer care can receive it through our next level of care, also provided at the Orchard House.

The individuals involved in our extended residential program learn how to take personal responsibility for their actions, and to identify relapse before it occurs.

At Serenity Hills Life Center, the family, when possible, is a part of treatment. We nurture and value the family and their healing process as much as the client.

We involve families throughout the treatment process.

As a part of this program, we will focus on the perspectives of everyone involved because the client often is not the only one that needs healing.

Our family programs help loved ones cope with the collateral effects of addiction, as well as understand the disease and the healing process.

Helping families grow in unity and pursue personal healing & recovery is our goal.

Family & Support

  • Participate in a weekend program on Serenity Hills Life Center's campus

  • Receive education about the disease of addiction

  • Engage in workshops to help gain coping skills to help your self

  • Participate in a family therapy session with the client

  • Receive complimentary lunch on both days

  • There will be childcare assistance when available

Intervention

Serenity Hills Life Center offers you help with a loved one when you do not know where to turn. Our experts can assist with an intervention if needed. We will work with you and your family to prepare for an intervention.

Recovery does not always start with a willingness for treatment.

An intervention may be the right decision to help your loved one who does not know how to begin this process of recovery or does not think they can be successful. We have trained expert interventionists that are available to help. Please call us to see if you think you need help arranging an Intervention.

Serenity Hills Life Center's Mothers Program was developed from the gap of services needed for pregnant women, postpartum depression, and mothers of minor children.

The addiction crisis has devastated families across West Virginia and beyond.

Some of the most affected & vulnerable are the children & babies born to mothers suffering from substance use issues.

Many mothers want help but, do not seek treatment in fear of losing their children. Often times, that is what occurs.

Serenity Hills Life Center has taken the task of focusing on this population and providing a safe, healthy place for treatment.

Mothers Program

Pregnant Women

Serenity Hills Life Center understands the plight of pregnant women & their families and strives to set a strong foundation for recovery. Pregnant women have unique treatment needs and specialized care is needed. Serenity Hills has designed programs to assist women with substance use issues to develop healthy life-skills, while providing encouragement & supportive care for both mother & baby.

Postpartum Women

Mothers suffering from substance use issues and are a postpartum mom, may have a difficult time in recovery. Having a newborn baby and dealing with the pressures of motherhood & recovery, are often overwhelming. Studies show that mothers who suffer from substance use issues are more likely to experience postpartum depression. This makes it even more difficult for the already struggling new mother in recovery. Serenity Hills Life Center offers mothers programs and support in this difficult time.

Mothers of Minor Children

Serenity Hills Life Center realizes that struggling with addiction alone is very difficult. Being a mother and having the responsibility of caring for children has become a major problem in the addiction crisis. Many mothers that love their children, end up losing them to Child Protective Services. Serenity Hills Life Center believes with a safe surrounding, quality treatment, education & job training, parenting classes, access to visitation, and a true desire for change, that mothers can and will be successful.

Contact Admissions

The Apple Blossom Cottage is our premiere Sober Living House that serves up to 12 residents.

This house is only 12 years old. It is a beautiful brick home with a gazebo and a large deck on over twenty acres of land that overlooks the Ohio River.

The cottage boasts of upstairs & downstairs kitchens, fireplaces, and laundry rooms, along with three full baths.

Serenity Hills Life Center follows the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. It is available only to our clients that have successfully graduated from our treatment program.

The Apple Blossom Cottage is the next step into the pathway of independence. There must be a six-month commitment to stay.

The individual must work, attend school, or volunteer at an approved location.

We are partners with the West Virginia Northern Community College, West Virginia Workforce, and other community based services.

Sober Living House

Apple Blossom Cottage Sober Living Criteria:

Serenity Hills Life Center does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, disability or age, in the delivery of services.

  • Must be female age 18 or older

  • Must be clean and sober for a minimum of thirty (30) days

  • Must have a primary diagnosis of alcoholism or chemical dependency

  • Must have a desire to recover

  • Must have completed a residential stay at Serenity Hills Life Center

  • Must continue with outpatient services, if recommended

  • Must agree to stay in the residence a minimum of six (6) months

  • Must agree to sign releases of information for medical, legal, and mental health histories

  • Ability to pass a drug & alcohol screening, and agree to ongoing, random screens

  • Must be willing to attend a minimum of three (3) 12-step meetings weekly and obtain a sponsor, have an accountability partner or peer specialist for support

  • No acute medical psychiatric conditions

  • Must have the ability to use the program as a transition to independent living

  • Must have the ability to maintain self-care and participate in job functions for the maintenance of the facility, i.e. cooking and general cleaning

  • Must be willing to work full time, be enrolled in school full-time, or a combination of both

  • Must be willing to contribute $100 per week for the program fee, and $42 per week for the food fee

  • Must commit to total abstinence from drugs and alcohol

  • Must respect the rights, views, & property of other residents, and get along with others

Peer Support

Peer Support Workers are individuals who have been successful in the recovery process for more than two years.

Clients who receive peer support report an overall increase in their quality of life. Peer support has been proven to be an evidence-based practice.

Serenity Hills Life Center utilizes Certified Peer Specialists who have lived & experienced substance use and are now trained to help others in need. Some of the tasks performed by the Peer Specialist may include assisting others in articulating their goals for recovery, learning & practicing new skills, helping to monitor their progress, supporting clients in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques, and teaching recovery strategies. Each client is assigned a Peer Specialist that will continue with them through their treatment and aftercare. They stay engaged until the client meets their goals, or until their support is no longer required.

Education and Job Training

Serenity Hills Life Center wants to break through all the barriers that can hinder recovery. Many recovery centers talk a client they need to 'find recovery first' but spend minimal time helping with job applications, education, and scheduling.

We understand the issues of unemployment, bills, housing, money issues, and credit collections. This can often exacerbate the substance use issues, while hindering recovery.

Serenity Hills Life Center offers job training and education through our partnership with local colleges. This can give the individual a better opportunity to obtain jobs and earn higher wages.

We believe that assisting the individual in acquiring these skills, will give that person a sense of empowerment, which plays a vital role in their sustained recovery.
